Our Priests

Father Cyprian Malongo Shikokoti (“Father Cyp”)

Parish Priest

I was born in 1982 in Kakamega County, Western Kenya.  I am the first-born of eight children to my mum Mrs. Jane Muteyitsi Usete and late father Mr. Alfred Usete Shikokoti. I arrived in Australia in October 2006 as a seminarian at the invitation of  the Emeritus Archbishop Barry James Hickey.

I completed my training and studies at St. Charles seminary in Guildford and at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle campus. I was ordained to the priesthood in March 2011 at St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth WA by Emeritus Archbishop Hickey.

I have served in a number of parishes as an assistant priests, chaplain to a number of Catholic colleges, a University chaplain at Murdoch University and The University of Western Australia until I was named Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Mission, Whitford Parish in January 2018. I have and continue to immensely enjoy my priestly ministry in this wonderful parish community.

Father Francis Phan Bao Quoc Tran (“Father Quoc”)

Assistant Priest

Born in Vietnam in 1988, I am the fifth of seven children (six boys and one girl) in my family, with my parents being Mrs. Scholastica Le Phan and Mr. Joseph Do Tran.

After completing high school, I dedicated four years to studying at Nha Trang Minor Seminary, followed by over eight years at Nha Trang Stella Maris Major Seminary. It was a significant blessing to be ordained alongside my brother, Fr. Paul Phan Bao Quyen Tran, two years my senior, in May 2018.

In October 2019, I accepted my appointment as an Assistant Priest at Whitford Parish. This role marks the beginning of my pastoral ministry, and I embrace it with passion and commitment.

I wholeheartedly thank God for the numerous blessings and opportunities I have encountered while engaging in pastoral work at Our Lady of the Mission, Whitford Parish.

The motto for my priesthood mission is “Lord, you know all things, you know that I love you” (John 21:17). Besides, I remind myself daily of the inspiring quote by Saint Francis de Sales: “Bloom where you are planted.” I firmly ask God to “make me an instrument of your peace.”
